Thank you so much to my family and friends who have encouraged and supported me through all the ups and downs. I couldn't have done it without you. Your support meant so much to me, especially on race day.
I'd like to mention a special thanks to some people who were a key to my success.....
Michelle Dillon, my coach, thank you so much for everything and especially for getting me to that final race! Your training programmes enabled me to achieve my full potential and your ongoing support and encouragement kept me going throughout. You were everything I could have wanted in a coach.
Neil Maclean-Martin, my physiotherapist, who pulled me through all the niggles that my aching old body could throw at me, but most significantly, made it possible for me to run again, when I thought that I would have to pull out after the Europeans because of my calves. You never gave up on me and I know for a fact that I would not have this gold medal if you hadn't taken the time to come running with me and adapted my style, which allowed me to run for those last few weeks.
My dad, who has always been my rock.
John and Dervla, who I was always able to turn to when stressing out about something. You were always there with a listening ear /shoulder to cry on and always gave me lots of useful advice whenever I needed it.
Jo, who was an enormous help with the kids.
Emma, Graeme, Gabi, Shaune, Jacks, and Louisa who have all offered encouragement, support and love in so many ways.
And finally, but most importantly, Jason, my husband and biggest supporter. You have made this all possible and have been 100% behind me all the way. You always gave me the time to train, and never stopped believing in me or allowed me to stop believing in myself.
I've loved every step of this journey, but am happy to be at the end of it. A moderate amount of exercise and lots of time with my family is the way forward from here, for now. Lots of love to you all.
Wow! Awesome Lisa. I am utterly and amazingly impressed! You must be so proud of yourself! Well done! Love Tracy, Adam, Siena and Catherine
